UM grads

The following local students earned degrees from the University of Montana-Missoula during the fall 2011 semester - from Columbia Falls, Chelsea Beecher, bachelor's in education, Nathan Donner, bachelor's in marketing, and Kimberly Pearce, bachelor's in pre-master of accounting; from West Glacier, Brady Dunne, bachelor's with honors in wildlife biology.

UM dean's list

The following students were named to the University of Montana's dean's list for the fall 2011 semester - from Columbia Falls, Chelsea Beecher (GPA 4.0), Breanne Erickson, Chase Fairbank, Jshanie Gilham, Danielle Gilley, Logan Hunter, Jennifer Jurva, Jacob Lutz, Samantha Maas, Sarah Marcille, Ketti Wilhelm and Adam Woods; from Hungry Horse, Jesse Flickinger and Kevin Kuper.

Carroll College dean's list

The following Columbia Falls students were named to Carroll College's fall 2011 dean's list - Allison Lampman, Benjamin Donner, Caitlin Newton, Elaine Soennichsen and Nathan Woods.

Canyon bike trail meeting May 16

A bill requiring the state to electronically verify that all foreign nationals are in the U.S. legally before issuing a Montana driver’s license or ID card was signed into law by Gov. Brian Schweitzer on April 18.

Uphill skiers need to be aware of avalanches on Big Mtn.

Whitefish Mountain Resort’s post-season uphill policy expired last week, but with significant snowfall and changing weather conditions, the resort reminds skier and hikers that avalanche hazards in the ski area’s permitted boundaries do exist.
