BB: Warriors down Bulldogs

ARLEE - It was a close battle that wowed both the Mission and

Arlee fans, with the Warriors coming out on top with a 62-60

victory. The Bulldogs had a last second shot that couldn't find the

hoop.

ARLEE - It was a close battle that wowed both the Mission and Arlee fans, with the Warriors coming out on top with a 62-60 victory. The Bulldogs had a last second shot that couldn't find the hoop. 

Mission's Stuart Grant led all scorers with an impressive 29 points, but Josh Reed and Brandon Hergett combined down low to the tune of 31 total points for Arlee to terrorize the Bulldogs interior defense.

Arlee got off to a quick start, leading 12-4 with 2:46 to go in the first quarter thanks to a 10-0 run, but Mission responded with a 9-4 run themselves and only trailed 16-13 at the end of the first.

Mission took the lead thanks to three made free throws by Dylan Evans with 6:40 to go in the second. Arlee would battled back and gain the 29-25 lead with 2:10 to go in the half. Both teams would trade blows and the Bulldogs went into halftime with a 34-33 lead thanks to a last second bucket by Grant. 

Arlee started the third quarter on a 11-2 run and led 44-36 with less than two minutes to go in the period. They ended up outscoring the Bulldogs 16-7 in the third. 

Mission wouldn't go away though and mounted a comeback, outscoring Arlee 19-13 in the final quarter and going on a 6-2 run in the last two minutes. Will Powell hit a shot to tie the game up for the Bulldogs at 60-60 with little time left but Arlee's Junior Sansavere hit the game winner with seven seconds left.

The Bulldogs took the final shot and it came up just off target. Arlee imroved their record to 7-7 on the season with the win. 

In his first game, Brandon Hergett led the Warriors with 17 points, Josh Reed added 14, Justin Adams had 11 and Junior Sansavere had nine.

Along with Grant's 29, Will Powell and Nikko Alexander both had eight points for the Bulldogs.
