COEUR d'ALENE - A 58-year-old woman who was hit by an automobile today while riding her bicycle was cited for not following proper riding rules, police said.
Paula Airhart complained of pain in her neck and head and was taken to Kootenai Health for observation following the crash at the intersection of US 95 and Interstate 90, according to Coeur d'Alene Police, but the injuries were not serious.
Police Sgt. Christie Wood told The Press Airhart was riding her bicycle southbound on 95, when she was struck around 9:15 a.m. by a car driven by Douglas Feil.
Airhart rode in front of Feil, Wood said, who was exiting the freeway and heading north on US 95.
Besides riding on the wrong side of the road, Airhart failed to yield at the intersection, police said.
