ISP will remain mum on found pistol investigation

The Press followed up with Idaho State Police today regarding the ISP-issued pistol found in the drive thru of the Post Falls Del Taco by a Post Falls man on Tuesday night. ISP Capt. Curtis Kastens issued the following statement:

"Currently there is nothing new to report about the investigation. I. C. 9-340 C (1) forbids any release of a personnel matter to include name of employee, investigation details and action taken by the employer. I'm not aware of any other agency conducting a separate investigation. I want to assure you and your readers that the Idaho State Police is well aware of the public safety concerns surrounding this incident. The Idaho State Police has internal protocols that are being followed in gathering the facts of the incident and in resolving the matter. The Idaho State Police takes this incident very seriously and will take whatever steps necessary to correct any issues coming out of the internal investigation."
