WALLA WALLA, WASH. - SKC pushed its win streak to four in a row with a successful weekend at the Walla Walla tournament. The Lady Bison secured a 88-71 victory over Northwest Indian University and a 74-70 win against Walla Walla.

On Friday, SKC matched up against a team that will be at the AIHEC Tournament later this year, Northwest Indian University, and four different Lady Bison scored in double-digits for the victory. SKC jumped out to a 43-33 lead at halftime and while they couldn't quite blow the game wide open, they still built their lead en route to a 88-71 victory.

Sharna Frazier led the team with 34 points and 21 rebounds while Chantel Jenkins added 14 points. Eva Green and Krista Olney both notched 11 points.

"Sharna had a good performance offensively and rebounding," SKC head coach Juan Perez said. "I think this is good for the team because each win builds their confidence a little bit more."

SKC won the rebounding battle 57-36 and forced 24 turnovers via 20 steals. They also played a good brand of team basketball with 15 assists.

"It's really good to get wins over the tribal colleges," Perez said. "It gives us a chance to see what they have and make adjustments."

Perez said that his team couldn't quite completely pull away from NWIU and feel they can work on doing better against them.

On Saturday, SKC matched up against Walla Walla University and came back from an eight-point deficit at halftime for a 74-70 victory. Both Frazier and Chantel Jenkins notched 28 points in the game.

"Sharna scored probably our first ten-twelve points of the game," Perez said. "We worked the ball down low to her and she was able to convert those short shots."

Frazier had 20 by halftime, and in the second half Jenkins heated up for the Lady Bison, scoring 20 after the break.

"Chantel came out and played aggresive and hit some three-pointers that got us back into the game," Perez said.

The Lady Bison also cut down on turnovers, allowing them to take 10 more field goals than in the first half. They also won the rebound battle again, notching 53 boards to Walla Walla's 35. Frazier had 16 of those. Green had nine and Olney had eight.

Perez said the team picked it up on defense, and the Lady Bison allowed just nine field goals in the second half.

The Lady Bison now turn their attention to the Montana Tribal College League Championships in Rocky Boy.

"It will give us an opportunity to see what the other six Montana schools who will be at AIHEC have and we'll build on that and make adjustments," Perez said.

There will be a month between the league championships and AIHEC in South Dakota. SKC will also play games on Feb. 17-18 to fine tune and get ready for the most important tournament of the year.
