YAKIMA -Kevin Bennett drained five buckets from behind the arc for 15 of his team leading 18 points but his effort wasn't enough to propel the Chiefs to victory as Moses Lake was beaten handily by the Pirates 86-61 Tuesday.

The defeat drops the Chiefs to 4-6 in the CBBN and 6-10 over all.

But Moses Lake clinched a playoff spot despite the loss.

The game was never really in doubt for the home team as Davis got out to a 21-12 lead at the end of the first quarter and was up 43-24 at the break. The second half of action saw the Chiefs score 37 points, but the Pirates knocked down 41 to coast to a 25-point win.

Bryce Perez added 15 points for Moses Lake, Cliff Phillips pumped in nine, and Nick Sutherland finished with eight points on the evening.

Two games remain in the regular season.

The Chiefs are Friday night when the host the Panthers from Wenatchee at 7:30 p.m. Moses Lake basketball ends on the road at Richland Saturday. The district tournament begins the following weekend.
