ROYAL CITY - Raul "Rudy" Gonzales has been added to the advertising sales staff of The Royal Register.

The Texas native is a 50-year resident of Moses Lake. He is also retired from a 20-year career with the U.S. Postal Service.

"I wasn't really ready to retire," Gonzales said. "I just wanted to go in a different direction.'

Gonzales's USPS career came in two stints. His second go with the USPS went from 1996 until about a year ago.

This will be Gonzales's first experience with advertising sales. But he has experience with advertising, having sold cars for Moses Lake Ford from 1988-1992 and furniture for Easy Home Furnishings from 1992-1996. He also worked for Ace Hardware for one year.

Gonzales is a Vietnam era veteran, serving with the U.S. Army from 1971-1973.

He was in the U.S. Army Reserve 10 years, attaining the rank of sergeant.

"I'm looking forward to this new career," he said. "I want to help the Register help the south county communities grow."
