Sewage spills in Post Falls Friday
The city of Post Falls reported a sewage spill of about 50,000 gallons on Friday at the Third Street lift station. The sewage spilled into the former manufactured housing park west of the Post Falls Senior Center at 3 p.m.
It is believed that a power spike at the lift station caused the temporary failure. The lift station has been repaired and was operating as normal on Friday night. City crews were on site within 15 minutes of the reported spill and by late afternoon the site was cleaned up.
The city reported the incident to the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality and will retain a hydrologist to monitor the effects of the spill.
Tribe gives $5,000 to Native Law Program
The Coeur d'Alene Tribe has donated $5,000 to the University of Idaho College of Law in support of its Native American Law program.
The donation provides students in the Native Law program with travel fundsto participate for the first time in the Federal Bar Association's Indian Law Conference,to take placein New Mexico thisApril.
It also will help support the College'sannual Native Law Conference, this year focused on Tribal Courts, scheduled in March. The monies also will be used to underwritepublicationcosts of student recruitment brochures on the Native Law program.
