Erin Allen, of Create It, arranges some store supplies inside her new Ephrata business.

MOSES LAKE - Erin Allen is transforming her passion for photography and scrapbooking into her new business,"Create It."

"It's a passion and a love that I've had for a very long time," she said. "My thought is what better to do something than what you like everyday. I jumped in and decided I was going to do it."

In the past, people asked her to create scrapbooking pages for them.

"I found, hey, I really could do this all the time," she said. "You bring me your pictures and I'll do a book for you."

She photographs anything, including families, weddings, senior citizens, babies and children, she said.

Allen says she's done photography, "very silently." Her dad took photos as a second job when she was growing up.

She does have the experience, even photographing her brother's wedding, but hadn't been public about it before, she says.

She wants to work toward creating extra space for customers to scrapbook and a framing shop.

For now, she is focusing on letting people know her new business is open.

If customers have requests, she says she'll try to meet them.

Business is going good, she said.

Allen described traffic into the store as "slow and steady."

It took her about a month to set the store up for business as she was waiting for orders to arrive. In that time, the store was painted and new carpeting was installed.

She and husband Jeff Allen have five children.

The business is located in the former Miller Photography building at 213 Division Ave., in Ephrata.
