CLARK FORK — Junior shooting guard Zack Klein poured in 24 points, including four 3-pointers, but a cold start proved too much to overcome as the Clark Fork boys fell 59-50 to Stillwater Christian on Saturday in a nonleague game in Clark Fork.

Stillman Berkley added 11 points for the Wampus Cats (3-10), who were doubled up in the first quarter and then outscored the Montana team in the final three frames.

“We need to come out a little faster,” said Cats coach Corey Vogel, whose team settled in once it started getting into sets. “All of Zack’s 3-pointers were within our offense. I’m proud of the boys, we fought hard.”

Tristin Bristol added seven points and 10 rebounds, and Zach Nesbitt dished out five assists for the Cats.

The JV boys team won 51-35, led by Brandon Bowen with 13 points and Nick Oas with eight. Vogel called it the team’s best game of the year.

Clark Fork hosts Kootenai on Tuesday.
