Von Nash Interiors moving
Nils Rosdahl | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 13 years, 1 month AGO
The variety of furnishings and decor are fascinating and the possibilities of interior options are endless with Von Nash Interiors. And so is the lady's enthusiasm to move.
Because her landlord isn't extending her lease at 849 N. Fourth St. (evidently he plans for the place to become another in a neighborhood of thrift stores), Von Nash is moving to 215 W. Kathleen Ave. (next to Fisherman's Market & Grill). The move actually will result in more space, about 7,000 square feet compared to 6,000 she's leaving (that for years was Graves Appliance). The new place also has parking to the front and rear.
Von Nash offers quality new, antique and retrofitted furniture and decor and gift items and interior services such a decorating advice and upholstery work.
"I make your house look like you," said Nash, who first opened her store on Northwest Boulevard in 2002. "I interview my client; we become a team." She moved to Fourth Street in 2008.
Originally from Texas and Oklahoma, Nash has been in the decorating business for more than 40 years. She plans to be in the new location Monday.
"I work with peoples' budgets for what they need done," she said. "Often I find spaces people didn't know they had."
Hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and by appointment. Phone 660-0553.
JUNK open on Fourth monthly
Now these ladies have an interesting vocation and lifestyle.
Calling themselves the Funky Junk Sisters, Dixie DeRocher and her sister Linda travel to vintage flea markets with their Junk Salvation stuff. They combine vintage, antique, shabby, farmhouse and industrial goodness into markets around the country. This weekend they're in Hillsboro, Ore.
However, they need a place to call "home." So the third weekend of each month they'll open their JUNK store at 802 N. Fourth St.
They describe it as an "event" each time they open their doors. So the first sale here will be Feb. 18-19.
Born and raised near Spokane, Dixie sold antiques and vintage items for 12 years and has moved to Coeur d'Alene. The fan pages for the business are www.facebook.com/fjs.funkyjunksisters and www.facebook.com/JunkSalvation.

Hang on for these Tidbits:
• Next week - Joey T's Taste of Chicago opens in Rathdrum.
• A special dress consignment shop will open in Dalton Gardens.
• Catch the interesting past and completely new future of the former Las Palmitas building at Third and Lakeside.
• Dahlberg Architects is closing in Coeur d'Alene. The late Bill Dahlberg started the business in 1993, and daughter Kim will be joining ALSC Architects.
• I've whined before about music loudness and selection choices in restaurants and fast-food places. A new music complaint is from medical waiting rooms - again, too loud or poor music choices.
• Style note: "Blonde" with an "e" is a female noun such as "a busty blonde." Without an "e" it's an adjective or a male noun. Often a guy is a "towhead," derived from the freshly cut yellow end of a log to be dragged to a truck. My professors called my hair "low-grade flax" or a "dandelion gone to seed." My Coast Guard bootcamp drill instructor called me "Whitey."
• "Intaxication" is euphoria at getting a tax refund, which lasts until you realize it was your money to start with."
