MANSON - McKenna Walker combined for 54 points, 21 rebounds and 16 steals to lead Moses Lake Christian Academy (MLCA) to wins over Manson, 64-17 Friday and Wilson Creek, 71-13 Saturday. The victories improves the Lions to 8-0 in league play and 16-3 overall.
"I was really happy with how the girls came out against Manson," coach Bryce McPartland said. "We picked the game up late in the year, and we didn't know a lot about them other than they were a lot larger school from a much tougher conference. The girls responded really well to the challenge of playing them on the road."
The game was never in question as MLCA led 34-7 at half, and cruised to the win.
Anna Yarbro added 15 points and 13 rebounds, and Madison Tudor finished with 10 points in the winning effort for the Lions.
"Anna has really come along well and is progressing as much as anyone we've ever had," McPartland said. '" She's taking a lot of ownership in developing her abilities on both ends of the floor and has eliminated a lot of the mistakes that she was making earlier in the season."
Taylor Yamane, McPartland said, was a best from a defensive standpoint.
"She's a nightmare for anyone who lacks experience or savvy at the point guard position," he said. "I was really pleased with how well she got after Manson's guards. She is so quick and can play kids so much closer than they are comfortable with. She just does a great job and produces a ton of plays that don't necessarily show up in the box score."

Wilson Creek 13
MOSES LAKE- The game against the Devils Saturday was just as lopsided as the contest at Manson, as the Loins put a whipping on Wilson Creek.
"I wasn't overly enthusiastic after our first game against Wilson Creek because I felt like we missed a lot of opportunities to tighten our defense up and gave up a lot of plays that we shouldn't have," McPartland said. "For this game, we wanted the girls focused on building toward what we hope will be a decent run in the playoffs, knowing that we can't make a lot of the same mistakes we've been making if we're going to compete with some of the heavier hitters in the state. While we didn't always do a great job of finishing plays tonight, we did improve over our last game with them."
The Lions have two games left in the regular season. MLCA's last home game is tomorrow night at 6 p.m. as the team hosts the Thorp Tigers.
The team then travels across a hop-skip and a jump to the Columbia Basin Secondary School Thursday at 7:30 p.m. to finish up against the Phoenix before starting the district tournament play in Soap Lake Feb. 13 and 14.
