Water seminars to be held today

POST FALLS - Those wanting to learn more about water resource management are invited to attend a continuing education program titled, "Water and Site Development: Saving Money, Avoiding Delay," offered by the University of Idaho-Coeur d'Alene.

The program is today from noon to 5 p.m. at the Jacklin Science and Technology Center in the University of Idaho Research Park, 721 S. Lochsa, Post Falls. Cost is $40, and includes lunch.

Peter Goodwin, professor of civil engineering at University of Idaho-Boise, will serve as keynote speaker.

His talk, "Water Issues for Engineers: The Long View," will address current challenges in water resource management and new, collaborative approaches to addressing those challenges.

Tribe donates $15K to PFSD

POST FALLS - The Post Falls School District received a $15,000 donation from the Coeur d'Alene Tribe to support education programs.

"The donations will help us provide opportunities for students that may otherwise not be available," said Superintendent Jerry Keane.

The Tribe has donated more than $17 million to Idaho schools since 1992.

As part of a gaming compact with the state, the Tribe returns 5 percent of its net gaming revenues to support education on or near the reservation.

Valentine's Day music scheduled

A special evening of music is scheduled 7:30-9 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 14 at the Lake City Center, 1916 Lakewood Drive.

It will feature Ruth Pratt on vocals, accompanied by Chuck Borris on guitar, Brian Flick on bass, Tom Schager on drums and Craig Catlett on clarinet and sax.

Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the Coeur d'Alene chamber office or call 292-1629.

The fundraiser is for the Coeur d'Alene Arts and Culture Alliance, which puts on Music Walk, ArtWalk, Kids Draw Architecture, the Summer Concerts at Riverstone Park and Art From the Heart.
