A decision on whether to pursue a land swap that will give up a historic Boy Scout camp will be made in the next two weeks, according to a scout official, though it might not be as ironclad as some would prefer.

The Inland Northwest Council of Boy Scouts will have two board votes in upcoming weeks, said Scout Executive Tim McCandless.

The INC executive and foundation boards will only vote on whether to pursue a purchase of sale agreement with developer Discovery Land Company, McCandless said, which has offered to build a new and improved camp at Sunup Bay on Lake Coeur d'Alene, in exchange for the Camp Easton property further north.

"There will be a resolution to move to the next step, to see if we can negotiate a deal that meets all of our requirements," McCandless said. "It will not approve sale or swap of the land."

Developing a purchase of sale agreement could take anywhere from one to three months, McCandless added. If the INC doesn't approve of the result, the scouts won't go through with a land swap.

"It's a process," he said.

The executive board will vote today, McCandless said, and the foundation board next Wednesday. Both must ratify the resolution for the INC to pursue the sale agreement.

A recent survey filled out by 800 scout constituents garnered a response of 61 percent in favor of the land deal.

McCandless said the INC did sign a non-legally binding letter of intent with the Arizona-based developer last August, to outline what the council would consider under such a proposal.

He understood some might be frustrated that a decision won't be made immediately.

"On the other hand, it helps ensure through a well thought-out process that we're making the best decision in the best interests of scouting, for the council and future generations of kids," McCandless said.

McMillan is sought for drug possession

The North Idaho Violent Crimes Task Force is seeking information leading to the apprehension of Nicole Louise McMillan.

McMillan, 21, is being sought based on a Kootenai County felony warrant charging her with failure to appear on felony drug possession charges. This is a $25,000 bond, Western United States extradition warrant.

McMillan is a 5-foot-1, 120 pound white female with green eyes and brown hair. McMillan was last known to be living in the Post Falls area.
