Father-and-daughter Flathead Valley radio veterans George Ostrom and Wendy Ostrom-Price will team up Feb. 21 to kick off the spring season of the Flathead Valley Community College President’s Lecture Series.

Their presentation, “Local Media: Past & Present,” will be at 7 p.m. in the large community meeting room inside the Arts and Technology Building in Kalispell. The event is free and open to the public.

The lecture marks the first time in five years that the “Ostrom news team” has come together. Ostrom and Ostrom-Price will discuss their unique approach to covering local issues and the changing role of media in the news today.

Now broadcasting weekday mornings on KGEZ, Ostrom’s career in radio broadcasting industry spans more than 50 years. He ran the Kalispell Weekly News for many years and has written three books as well as a column for the Hungry Horse News.

Ostrom was inducted into the Montana Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame in 2004.

Ostrom-Price was a reporter, news anchor and talk-show host at KOFI Radio for about 17 years. She received numerous awards from the Montana Broadcasting Association, The Associated Press and the Society of Professional Journalists.

At its height, her “KOFI Talk” radio program was ranked the number one talk show in the Flathead Valley. In 2007, Ostrom-Price became the public relations officer for Flathead Electric Cooperative Inc. where her duties continue to include media relations and communications.

She has served on various community boards and committees and is currently is a member of the Kalispell Noon Rotary Club and sits on the Whitefish Chamber Board of Directors as well as the Daily Inter Lake Editorial Board.
