QUINCY - A 21-year old Quincy man was arrested for dealing drugs near a school following an undercover sting operation.

On Feb. 3 the Grant County's Interagency Narcotics Enforcement Team (INET) and Quincy Police officers arrested Marcus Alexander Garcia on suspicion of delivery of cocaine in a school zone, driving under the influence and driving on a suspended license, according to Quincy police on Wednesday.

INET detectives went undercover in the city after receiving reports that some of the local bars were allegedly being used for narcotics transactions, police stated.

The investigation reportedly led detectives to purchase 2.7 grams of cocaine from Garcia in the parking lot of the Quincy McDonald's restaurant, which is within 1,000 feet of Hi Tech High, Quincy School District's alternative high school.

Under state law, the charge of delivery of drugs in a school zone can add extra penalties to the drug crime.
