COEUR d'ALENE - Jodi Booth, a language arts teacher at Canfield Middle School, has been named the Idaho Middle Level Association's Region One Educator of the Year.

For the past 13 years Booth has taught language arts at Canfield. She also serves on the Canfield leadership team and is a building technology leader.

Although Jodi's mastery and expertise of language arts is evident in her teaching and student test scores, she understands there is more to teaching than content instruction.

"Jodi's unending dedication to student success inspires students to work hard and strive for excellence in her classroom," said fellow Canfield teacher Katie Pemberton, who helped nominate Booth.

Booth also exemplifies a 21st century teacher, Pemberton noted.

She incorporates technology in each lesson for full student engagement and increased achievement. Using standards-based instruction, Booth's students polish their reading, writing and presentation skills through the completion of several major projects throughout the year.

She is able to create a climate and culture of excellence in her classroom by igniting student passions for learning, a talent that is recognized by her peers locally and now throughout Idaho's Region 1.
