Students to participate in career interviews at Reverse Job Fair
High school seniors will have a chance to explore a wide range of careers March 21 during a reverse job fair in which professionals discuss their fields with them.
The Idaho Department of Labor is teaming up with the Post Falls Chamber of Commerce to conduct the fair between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Real Life Ministries, 1866 Cecil Road in Post Falls.
About 300 students are expected to participate in the fair, which has become a popular event in recent years. Each student selects a career or profession, researches it and then is interviewed by a person in that career or profession during the fair.
Individuals or businesses that want to volunteer individuals as interviewers for the reverse job fair should contact Idaho Department of Labor Workforce Consultant Pam Abram at pam.abram@labor.idaho.gov.
"We match student career choices with professionals in that field," Abram said. "The time spent interviewing will change these students' lives."
Businesses can also contact Abram about sponsoring scholarships for the students, generally or in the company's name. The minimum scholarship is $500. Last year $5,500 in scholarships were awarded to participating students.

NIBCA member Cunningham
wins home builder's awards
North Idaho Building Contractors Association member Dennis Cunningham and his company, ActiveWest Builders, won three National Association of Home Builder's 50+ Housing Awards.
Meadow Ranch picked up two Gold Achievement Awards for Best Green Community and Best Detached Home up to 2,100 square feet and a Silver Award for Best for Sale - up to 200 Homes.
Meadow Ranch is an active adult community in Coeur d'Alene.
"All of these awards and certifications have helped to support the national recognition we have received," Cunningham said. "It's nice to have a larger scope that gives credibility outside of where we are building. To me, it's all about being certified and credible - Talking the Walk, and Walking the Talk, so to speak."
As a member of the NIBCA, Cunningham will be honored at a general membership meeting today.
"We are very proud of Dennis' accomplishments and his recognition on a national stage such as the one NAHB provides," said NIBCA's president, Angela Erickson. "It is simply one more indication that the builder members of NIBCA are some of the very best in our country."
