Brothers plead innocent to several charges

A pair of Kalispell brothers pleaded not guilty to a bevy of charges related to a series of thefts Feb. 9 in Flathead District Court.

Christopher Eby, 26, faces a felony charge of burglary, seven counts of felony forgery, a misdemeanor charge of forgery, two counts of misdemeanor theft and a misdemeanor charge of deceptive practices.

Nicholas Eby, 23, faces a felony charge of burglary, a felony charge of drug possession, a felony charge of forgery and two misdemeanor counts of theft.

Among the items alleged to have been stolen by the brothers are two saws, five purses and their contents, two wallets, an iPod, a cell phone and a laptop.

They also are accused of forging more than $4,500 worth of checks from 12 accounts as well as spending more than $150 on a stolen credit card.

If convicted on all counts, Christopher Eby faces up to 162 years in jail and a fine of up to $403,500, while Nicholas Eby faces between two and 46 years in jail and a fine of up to $151,000.

Their next court hearings are scheduled for May 9.
