SPOKANE — Jackson Houck scored the game-winning goal with just under 10 minutes to play as the Vancouver Giants beat the Spokane Chiefs 2-1 in a Western Hockey League game in front of 4,011 at the Spokane Arena on Wednesday.
After a scoreless first period, Liam Stewart opened the scoring for Spokane on an assist from Collin Valcourt.
Vancouver answered on Cain Franson’s 23rd goal of the season to tie the game at 1-all after the second period.
Spokane (31-18-4-3, 69 points) outshot Vancouver 33-22, including 17-5 in the final period.
Vancouver leads Spokane by two points in the race for the final home-ice advantage seeding (No. 4) in the Western Conference playoffs.
Spokane faces Kootenay at Cranbrook, British Columbia, on Friday.
