SOAP LAKE - When you're hot ... you're hot and the Moses Lake Christian Academy girls basketball team is sizzling after beating Cascade Christian 69-14 in Soap Lake last night. The win allowed the Lions to claim their second consecutive 1B Central Washington District title in the past two years.

"The girls are really starting to peak now," coach Bryce McPartland said. "We started out slow at the beginning of the season, but are really starting to hit our stride now."

The Lions high octane offense put the pedal to the medal in the first half of play to lead 23-8 at the end of the first quarter, and took a 49-8 advantage at the half.

MLCA's defense tightened its grip in the second half of action and shut down the Wolverines offense, allowing them just six points over the final two quarters and cruised to an easy win.

"The girls came out intent to cut down the nets and come away with back-to-back district championships," McPartland said. 'and they did just that. I am pleased withe efforts our young team displayed tonight."

McKenna Walker led the offensive attack to the Lions with 34 points, eight rebounds and nine steals. Dani Sandberg added nine points and four boards, Madison Yamane had eight points and six assists, Anna Yarbro chipped in eight points, and Maddie Tudor finished with seven.

The win over the Wolverines set us a showdown with either Almira/Coulee-Hartline or the Columbia Lions from Hunters Saturday. Depending on the outcome of their game.
