Darlene Francis (Voigt) Haux, age 76, of Coeur d'Alene, lost her courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012.

Born in Burlington, N.D., on March 5, 1935, to Walter and Bernice (Davidson) Voigt.

She lived in Coeur d'Alene and worked at Lacrosse Rehab Center until retiring in 1996. She was an active member of the Sunshine committee.

Darlene loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She was so proud of them and they provided her much joy. She loved taking pictures to capture and preserve special moments. Along with pictures, she spent countless hours researching family history reaching back to the 1800s. Darlene enjoyed flowers, collecting hummingbirds, Betty Boop and Christmas villages. In past years, she loved to bowl and was active in TOPS. She loved her crafts, which included painting holiday scenes on store front windows. She will be remembered most for her love of Christmas...Merry Christmas Mom!!

Survivors include; husband of 55 years, Eldon Haux, of Coeur d'Alene. Brother, Leroy (Linda) Voight, of Port Orchard, Wash. Sisters, Bonnie Smith, of Coeur d'Alene, and Elizabeth (George) Cook, of Reno, Nev.; sons Keith Haux, of Coeur d'Alene, Rod and Russ (May) Haux, of Post Falls, Dwane (Janelle) Haux, of Spokane, and Fred Haux, of Spirit Lake; daughters, Crystal McCollum, of Kennewick, Wash., Paula (Dale) Hille, of Quincy, Wash., and Kim (Bryan) Palmer, of Post Falls. As well as 30 grand-children and 34 great grand-children and numerous other family members who were so dear to her.

Darlene was preceded in death by parents Walter and Bernice Voigt, brothers, James and Lannie Voigt, infant sister Delores and great-granddaughter Abigail Nobel.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 812 N. Fifth St., Coeur d'Alene, with a coffee reception to follow.
