Glacier, Flathead girls drop road games

HELENA - Second ranked Helena High held No. 5 Glacier to two points in the fourth quarter to post a 46-37 Western AA girls basketball victory on Friday night.

The Bengals (13-4 overall, 9-0 league) were led by Kaitlyn Oliver, 17 points, and Kyndal Williams, 15.

Helena, up 15-5 eight minutes into play, led by just four at the half, 22-18.

Glacier (9-7, 4-5) only trailed by one, 36-35, heading into the fourth quarter.

Tiffany Marks led the Wolfpack with a double-double - 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Glacier had 20 turnovers to Helena's nine.

Glacier held a slight edge on the boards, 36-31.

Glacier plays at Helena Capital today.

HELENA - Helena Capital put a little distance on Flathead in the second quarter and then pulled away for good with a strong fourth quarter for a Western AA victory.

Capital outscored Flathead 14-8 in the second quarter for a 27-20 halftime lead. The Bruins (9-8, 5-4) did the same thing in the fourth period with a 15-4 scoring advantage.

Flathead (7-10, 2-7) was led by Emma Andrews and Brittany Earnest, nine points each.

Capital had three players in double-figure scoring - Kaye Bignell, 13; Jasyn Mulcahy, 12, and Julia Anderson, 11.
