Swim team at state this weekend

MOSES LAKE - The Moses Lake High School swim and dive team will be in the in the water this weekend for the state meet at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.

Six Chiefs qualified for the event. Two alternates will also be making the trip.

"This is the largest contingent of swimmers-divers we have sent to the state championships," coach Tony St. Onge said. "Our goal is to achieve the best performances of the season at the meet."

State qualifiers include freshman Brenden Eslick, who will be competing in the 200 freestyle, 100 butterfly and is a member of the 200 and 400 freestyle relay teams.

Freshman Zach Johnston will swim the 200 individual medley, 500 freestyle and is a part of the 200 and 400 freestyle medley.

Sophomore Kaelan Connacher will perform in the 100 freestyle event, the 100 backstroke and is also a member of the 200 and 400 freestyle relay.

Ben Breaky is the fourth member of the 200 freestyle and Reid Jackson, the fourth swimmer for the Chiefs in the 400 freestyle.

Nick Price is the lone Moses Lake diver to qualify for state.

The two alternates are Nick Osborne and Tristian Randall.

The Preliminary events get underway Friday at 2 p.m. The top 16 finishers will move on to the finals Saturday at 2:15.
