William Boni, 83

William Joseph Boni, 83, passed away Feb. 15, 2012, in Spokane. Bill was born July 14, 1928, in Spokane, to William and Louisa (Chullini) Boni.
Bill, sometimes referred to as "Poncho," came to the area in 1932. He attended grade school and graduated at the I.H.M. Academy in 1946. On Oct. 29, 1949, he married Alice T. Zahara, in Calgary Alberta, Canada.
He was a meat cutter and manager for 25 years at Safeway and a deputy assessor for Kootenai County for 12 years. Bill was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Coeur d'Alene Shriners and Eagles Lodge.
Bill loved Bocce Ball, baseball and gardening. Bill is survived by his wife Alice at home, son Kenneth William Boni, of Hayden Lake, daughter Nancy Louise Johnson, of Mukilteo, Wash.
Bill also is survived by his grandchildren Jason, Joel, Jamie and Allyson, and great-grandchildren Ethan, Makenna, Will and Claire.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday Feb. 19, 2012, at Evergreen Fountains Senior Center at 1201 N. Evergreen Road in the Spokane Valley.
