MOSES LAKE - Moses Lake's Duda Insurance is methodically building the company during its first year of business.

When she's ready, owner Jill Health said she adds more agents who can produce.

Her executive assistant, Mindy Garrison, already handles the paperwork in the office.

"All they have to do is produce," Heath said. "We will put producers in here. We're just in the process of getting everything set up and have everything in place. We're not just getting out and grabbing people at the moment."

Her husband, Tom Heath, explains it takes time to set up the office's infrastructure, as each company they deal with uses different computer systems.

He describes himself as an "unpaid assistant" and "supportive spouse."

The business is affiliated with Duda Insurance in Quincy, a full line insurance company owned by Bob Duda. 

There are more than 80 companies for the various lines of insurance provided by the Moses Lake office.

"We can shop for the best insurance and rates," Jill Heath said.

The company offers home, auto, commercial, life and health insurance.

The office's other agent, Joe Armand, has 27 years of experience selling insurance.

He explains Jill Heath had been working in the industry for about five years and came to the conclusion she wanted to be out on her own.

Duda had been a family friend for years. The Heaths approached him about a business affiliation.

"He's been very receptive," Tom Heath said.

The affiliation allows them to use Duda's experience and relationships with the insurance companies. But Jill Heath and Armand own the office.

Garrison, the company's Moses Lake office assistant, describes her work as "incredible and fun."

"It's amazing what you can accomplish in a full day's work," she said.

Their goal is to provide the utmost in customer service and ensure the product they're providing meets customers' needs.

"One of the things you'll find in many people, is they don't have a full grasp of what their policy provides," Jill Heath said. It is critical for customers to know this, she adds.

They are grateful for the help provided by the community.

"We're just really appreciative of the support the community has given us since we've opened the doors," Tom Heath said. "We've been very happy."
