Lake County hires a new deputy

POLSON — Deputy Fernando Venegas started working for the Lake County Sheriff’s Office on Jan. 30, 2012. Venegas has worked over seven years as a law enforcement officer in Chouteau County.

Venegas is a graduate of the Montana Law Enforcement Academy and holds a Basic Law Enforcement Certificate, Intermediate Law Enforcement Certificate and Primary Instructors Certificate. Venegas has advanced training in search and rescue operations, coroner duties and has completed courses in domestic drug interdiction, basic crisis negotiation and primary SWAT.

During his experience working in Chouteau County, he has held titles including Field Training Officer, Evidence Room Technician, Deputy Coroner and Civil Office/Detention Center Administrator. Venegas served as a member to Chouteau County Search and Rescue and as a Volunteer Firefighter for the city of Fort Benton. Venegas works proactively and is excited to continue his law enforcement career serving the community of Lake County.
