Golf
On the second extra hole of a three-way playoff Sunday - made possible by clutch birdie putts from Phil Mickelson and Keegan Bradley on the final hole - Bill Haas rolled in a 45-foot birdie putt across the 10th green to win the Northern Trust Open at Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles.
Haas closed with a 2-under 69 and won a PGA Tour event for the third straight year.
Mickelson and Bradley made birdies on the 18th hole to force the playoff.
• Top-ranked Yani Tseng successfully defended her LPGA Thailand title for her 13th LPGA Tour victory, birdieing the final two holes to hold off playing partner Ai Miyazato by a stroke in Chonburi, Thailand.
• Kenny Perry won the ACE Group Classic in Naples, Fla., for his second Champions Tour title, beating 2011 winner Bernhard Langer by five strokes.

No. 2 Syracuse 74, Rutgers 64: Scoop Jardine scored 17 points, including a dagger 3-pointer with 1:11 to play, as Syracuse (27-1, 14-1 Big East) beat Rutgers (12-15, 4-10) in Piscataway, N.J.
No. 5 Duke 75, Boston College 50: At Boston, Seth Curry scored 18 points and Duke (23-4, 10-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) cruised past Boston College (8-19, 3-10) behind a smothering defense.
No. 7 Michigan St. 76, Purdue 62: At West Lafayette, Ind., Austin Thornton scored a career-high 17 points to lead the Spartans (22-5, 11-3 Big Ten) past the Boilermakers (17-10, 7-7).
No. 15 Wisconsin 65, Penn St. 55: At Madison, Wis., Josh Gasser scored 15 points and the Badgers (20-7, 9-5 Big Ten) held off Penn State (12-16, 4-11) to win for the eighth time in 10 games.
Iowa 78, No. 18 Indiana 66: At Iowa City, Iowa, Matt Gaten scored a career-high 30 points and the Hawkeyes (14-13, 6-8 Big Ten) snapped Indiana's (20-7, 8-7) three-game winning streak.

Oregon 68, Stanford 64: At Stanford, Calif., E.J. Singler scored 10 consecutive points in the final six minutes, including a go-ahead 3-pointer with 2:45 remaining, and the Ducks (19-8, 10-5 Pac-12) beat the Cardinal (18-9, 8-7).

Former Seattle Mariner Mike Cameron said he is retiring after a 17-season career in which the center fielder won three Gold Gloves.
• The Yankees and Pirates completed a trade that sends the much-maligned pitcher A.J. Burnett to Pittsburgh for a pair of minor leaguers.
Boxing
British heavyweight Dereck Chisora was detained by police after losing a title bout to Vitali Klitschko in Munich and then brawling with former WBA champion David Haye at a post-fight news conference.
Tennis
Roger Federer defeated Juan Martin del Potro 6-1, 6-4 in Rotterdam, Netherlands, to win the ABN Amro World Tennis for his first title of the year.
Skiing
Marcel Hirscher won his second race in two days on the Banderitsa course, taking a World Cup slalom in Bansko, Bulgaria, ahead of Andre Myhrer of Sweden.
• Lindsey Vonn clinched her third straight super-combined trophy after the final race in the discipline this season in Krasnaya Polyana, Russia, was canceled due to heavy snowfall on the Sochi 2014 Olympics course.
Auto racing
Antron Brown won the Top Fuel division in the NHRA Arizona Nationals on Sunday at Firebird International Raceway in Chandler, Ariz., holding off Don Schumacher Racing teammate Tony Schumacher in the final round with a run of 3.793 seconds at 319.82 mph.
Robert Hight topped the Funny Car field and Jason Line won in Pro Stock.
