Royal announces students of month

ROYAL CITY - Royal High School counselor Marge Edwards has announced the February students of the month as selected by the faculty.

The senior so honored is Madison Stakkeland, daughter of Parrish and Shanna Stakkeland of Royal City.

The junior honoree is Monica Yepiz, the daughter of Ernesto and Rosalba Mendoza of Othello.

The sophomore student of the month is Maritza Garcia, daughter of Atilano and Olgalivia Garcia of Royal City.

And the freshman student of the month is Justin Jenks, son of Justin and Heather Jenks of Royal City.

LA GRANDE, Ore. — Four Basin students were among 635 named to the Eastern Oregon University Dean’s List for the 2025 winter term, according to an announcement from the university. Qualifying students achieve and maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale while completing a minimum of 12 hours of graded coursework for the term.
