Betty Mae Hermenet, 87, peacefully entered Heaven at the Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene on Feb. 17, 2012, surrounded by family and friends. Mom was born Aug. 26, 1924, in Rochester, N.Y. She was the youngest daughter of Lester and Clara Probst.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sister, brother and husband Frank Hermenet.

She is survived by her four children, Karen (Dan) Petersen and Brion (Terri) Hermenet, both of Hayden, Beth (Larry) Heldt of Rohnert Park, Calif., and Keith Hermenet of Turlock, Calif. Mom loved her 10 grandchildren and their spouses and she was thrilled to be able to enjoy her six great-grandchildren.

In 1962 our family moved from upstate New York to the West Coast, eventually settling in Turlock, Calif. Mom worked as the bookkeeper for both Mercantile in Turlock and Modesto Junior College’s Book Store in Modesto, Calif., before she retired. Mom was active for many years in the Turlock Antique Club. In 1975 she was elected the first president of the Turlock chapter of the American Business Women’s Association.

Mom re-located from Turlock to Rohnert Park, Calif., in 2006 and to Hayden in 2011. Mom will be remembered for her sense of humor, her love of antiques, her voracious reading and her modest card shark victories!

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, March 10, 2012, at New Life Community Church, Hayden. Interment will be at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, Santa Nella, Calif. Please visit Betty’s memorial and sign her online guest book at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
