Wise shines in opener for Cardinals in split

MOSES LAKE - Sophomore KaSara Wise hit a two-run double in a six-run third inning as North Idaho College won the first game of a Scenic West Athletic Conference softball doubleheader 7-1 against the Western Nevada Wildcats on Friday at Larson Playfield.
Western Nevada won the second game 7-5.
Heather Bishop also had two RBIs for NIC in the first game.
Former Lakeland High standout Alia Cox hit a solo home run in the third inning for Western Nevada.
The Wildcats scored an unearned run on an error in the seventh inning of the second game, and added an insurance run on an RBI single by Jennifer Quam.
Nicole Atkinson hit a solo home run leading off the sixth inning for NIC (11-16, 9-9 SWAC).
The teams conclude their four-game series today with another doubleheader in Moses Lake, beginning at noon.
