Harris named WCC Player of Week

SPOKANE - Gonzaga junior Elias Harris has been named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week for his role in leading the Bulldogs to a top- two finish in the WCC regular-season standings for a fifteenth straight season.

In critical wins over BYU and at the University of San Diego, Harris averaged 13.0 points and 14.0 rebounds per game. In the victory over BYU, which snapped a second-place tied between the Zags and Cougars, Harris scored 19 points and grabbed a career-high equaling 16 rebounds for his fourth double-double in the last five games. It was his 10th double-double of the season and the 19th of his career.

The native of Speyer, Germany, went 4 for 6 from the field, 1 of 2 from 3-point range and 10-12 from the line against BYU. Ronny Turiaf had 27 double-doubles from 2002-05 and J.P. Batista recorded 19 in just two years as a Bulldog from 2005-06.

Shock tweak roster

SPOKANE - The Spokane Shock announced Monday that OL Riordan Gomez has been added to the 2012 roster. Additionally, the Shock placed WR Donte Davis, OL Isaiah Agson and DL Marcus Adams on re-assignment. DL Jeremy Geathers and DL James Ruffin have both been activated from the PUP list, while DL Brandon Sharpe was placed on the PUP list. LB Pago Togafau has been placed on the Other League Exempt List to join the CFL.

This will be Gomez's first season in the AFL. Gomez, 6-2 325, finished his collegiate career at Humboldt State. In his final two seasons at HSU, he started in 17 of the 21 games he played. As a senior, Gomez was selected as a second-team All Conference player.

"He's very versatile, he can line up on the offensive line or at fullback," General Manager Ryan Rigmaiden said. "That's a testament to his athleticism and his intelligence as a football player. He will make a nice addition to our roster."

The Shock will open up the 2012 season on Monday, March 12th hosting the Iowa Barnstormers. Season tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by contacting the Shock office at 509 242 7462. Single game tickets are also on sale now and can be purchased through TicketsWest.
