Scott Gaiser, of Kalispell, had the fastest time for men in the Masters Division at the Snow Joke Half Marathon in Seeley Lake on Feb. 25.

Gaiser, who is the assistant principal at Columbia Falls High School, ran the 13.1-mile long route in 1 hour 28.19 minutes.

Sponsored by the Cheetah Herders Athletic Club, the race attracted 538 finishers.

Uphill skiers need to be aware of avalanches on Big Mtn.

Whitefish Mountain Resort’s post-season uphill policy expired last week, but with significant snowfall and changing weather conditions, the resort reminds skier and hikers that avalanche hazards in the ski area’s permitted boundaries do exist.
