SAN BRUNO, Calif. - After leading the Saint Mary's Gaels to their first outright West Coast Conference regular season title since 1989, junior guard Matthew Dellavedova was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Year, the league announced.

Two Gonzaga players earned individual awards, with senior Robert Sacre being named Defensive Player of the Year and freshman guard Kevin Pangos garnering Newcomer of the Year.

BYU's Kristen Riley is the women's Player of the Year and Gonzaga redshirt sophomore Haiden Palmer was named the co-Newcomer of the Year along with BYU freshman Lexi Eaton.

Former Coeur d'Alene High standout Carli Rosenthal was selected to the conference's freshman team. Rosenthal has averaged 4.3 points and 5.9 rebounds per game for the Gaels (20-9, 11-5), who enter this week's tournament as the No. 4 seed.

Sacre is the fifth Gonzaga player to be recognized as Defensive Player of the Year and first since Erroll Knight in 2005. Sacre was among the conference leaders in rebounding with 6.3 a game. He also tied for the lead with 25 blocked shots, while helping the Bulldogs lead the WCC in scoring defense (61.9 points allowed) and field goal percentage (40.1 percent).

Pangos is the third straight Bulldog to be named Newcomer of the Year, joining Marquise Carter (2011) and Elias Harris (2010) as recent Gonzaga honorees. Pangos averaged 12.8 points and 3.2 assists per game during conference play, connecting on a league-best 36 3-point field goals.
