Big Mtn. telemark races canceled
Hungry Horse News | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 13 years, 3 months AGO
The U.S. Telemark Open races scheduled for this weekend at Whitefish Mountain Resort have been canceled.
While the resort has been able to open most of its terrain after new snow fell last week, there's still not enough coverage on the race course to safely set gates or build jumps.
"This is a huge disappointment," said race organizer Linda Hobbs. "We were looking forward to hosting our local Telemark skiers as well as a number of U.S. National team members who planned to travel from out of state for this event. Mother nature had another plan, and we'll have to look forward to next year."
