Last year there was a coin for Glacier National Park; this year there's a stamp.

The U.S. Postal Service announced Tuesday that an image of Glacier's Logan Pass has been selected for an international rate stamp to be issued on Jan. 19.

The stamp was designed by art director Ethel Kessler, featuring an image taken by National Geographic photographer Michael Melford.

The image shows Logan Pass, the highest point along the park's famed Going-to-the-Sun Road. Melting snowbanks reveal a meadow dotted with wildflowers against a backdrop of Glacier peaks.

The stamp was selected for the Postal Service's "Scenic American Landscapes" series. The Postal Service receives about 40,000 ideas for stamps each year and only among the 25 to 30 topics are selected for stamps.

Last April, the U.S. Mint unveiled a commemorative quarter for the park, featuring an image of a mountain goat overlooking the park's high country with Reynolds Mountain above Logan Pass in the background.

A special ceremony was held at Columbia Falls High School where the U.S. Mint rolled out the 25-cent piece for the park.

Glacier Park celebrated its centennial in 2010.
