Make 2012 the healthiest year yet!

It is a new year and it is time for New Year's resolutions. What will it be this year? Better health or are you going to keep doing the same things you have been doing with no results? Stop the cycle by building new habits that will lead to a better life physically, mentally and emotionally.
The first step to better overall health is a strong immune system. Do you ever wonder why you can be in a room full of people who have a cough or runny nose and some people get a cough while others do not? It is about how well your immune system is functioning and whether it is strong or weak. When our immune system is weak we are more sensitive to our environment, like the air we breathe and the things we eat. This can lead to the expressions of symptoms like coughing, sneezing, headaches, allergies and even a fever, just to name a few.
Your body is designed to be self-regulating, self-healing but life does throw us some challenges along the way. Remember, your spinal column protects your spinal cord and the nerves that travel to all of your organs, tissues and cells within your body! If we have interference in this brain-to-body connection, then it will disrupt the normal function and this will cause weakness in how well your body can fight against bacteria and viruses that we are exposed to each and every day. It is important to support your immune system so that it can fight against these foreign invaders.
Chiropractic Research Journal did a control study over a six-month period and found that individuals who did not receive chiropractic adjustments during that six-month period had a decrease in CD4 cells by 7.96 percent. CD4 cells are white blood cells that send signals to activate your body's immune response when they detect bacterial and/or viral infections in your body. However, the individuals receiving regular adjustments had an increase in CD4 cells by 48 percent. I challenge you to choose something different for your family this year, fewer sick days, fewer days off work and more energy to do the things you love to do as a family! Together let's make 2012 the healthiest year yet!

Focus on ADD/ADHD
You have been seeing the terms ADD and ADHD very often in our recent articles. This is due to the fact that our Focus program is now in full swing and we have begun helping children and adults in managing their sensory integration issues such as ADD/ADHD or patterns of being impulsive, hyperactive, inattentive or exhibit an unexplained lack of productivity.
Chiropractic goes beyond pain
Our bodies are amazing. Think about that statement. As you do, also think about the fact that you probably took a breath, blinked your eyes, moved a limb, moved your head, focused your eyes, digested food, healed a cut, wiggled a toe, salivated and a million other internal operations. Although you were not readily thinking about all of these processes, they were going on without the need for your input. Your brain, while also supplying you with conscious thought, is simultaneously orchestrating a laundry list of functions to keep you alive and well.
How's your resolution going?
As March moves in, the steadfast determination of many people to continue carrying out their New Year's resolutions is no doubt starting to fade. If you are still holding strong to the things you have changed in your life, bravo! If not, well, there's always next year, right?
