Locals around Mineral County rang in the New Year Dec. 31 with dancing, music, a potluck dinner and even some karaoke at two community events.
Many people came to the St. Regis Community Center for a potluck dinner and some live music from the Eagles Nest Band.
The community center was packed with locals all coming together to celebrate the New Year.
As the adults enjoyed the potluck dinner and listened to the live music, the local children dance and played together, entertaining the band.
The New Years Eve Party ran from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The New Years Eve Party at the community center was put on by community council members John Cheesman, Eileen Wolff and help from Glenn Koepke.
At the New Years Eve Party in St. Regis, the winners of the town-wide house-decorating contest over the holidays were announced.
The community council members decided the winners and Cheesman said it was difficult to pick just one winner so there was a four-way tie for first place.
The four decorated homes were all too close to decided.
The four-way tie went to Duane and Donna Simons, Roger and Linda McLinden, Bob and Joan Carroll and the Martin Family.
Honorable mention went to Jeff Taylor, Dan and Mikey Woodson, Jim and JoAnn Arney and Bill and Robin McDermott.
The members of the community council wanted to thank everyone who decorated there homes and participated as decorators and judges.
The council looks forward to doing it again next year.
Community council member Eileen Wolff said the next event the council will host will be in March.
The council will put on a St. Patricks’ Day event for the community.
While people brought in the New Year in St. Regis, others in the county came to the Rivers Edge in Alberton for another New Years Eve Party.
The Rivers Edge hosted karaoke while fireworks were shot off into the sky in Alberton and it went till 10:45 p.m.
