MOSES LAKE - Citizens for Progress in Education is holding a forum next week to answer questions about the Moses Lake school bond and levy headed to voters in February.

The forum is 7 p.m. Jan. 10 at the Moses Lake Civic Center theater, 401 S Balsam St., Moses Lake.

Members of Citizens for Progress in Education and Moses Lake School District representatives will answer questions and share information about the need for the levy and bond, said Moses Lake School District Superintendent Michelle Price.

Voters will decide a $115 million bond and a three-year replacement maintenance and operation levy that would raise $15.2 million in 2013, $15.9 million in 2014 and $16.7 million in 2015.

The bond would pay for a new high school, to alleviate crowding at Moses Lake High School, and two new elementary schools. Sixth-grade students would move to the new elementary schools to alleviate crowding at Frontier and Chief Moses middle schools.

The maintenance and operation levy helps pay for services beyond what the state deems necessary for basic education, including music programs, counselors, reading specialists, literacy coaches, sports programs, extra curricular activities, librarians and nurses.
