Meredith Mott, 81, passed away Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, in Kalispell. She died peacefully, surrounded by her family.
Meredith was born in Havre June 18, 1930, to her parents, Marion L. Bear and Marie Catherine Kappes. She moved to the Flathead Valley as a young child and graduated from Flathead County High School in 1949.
She obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in education from Montana State University of Missoula in 1953. She later returned to the University of Montana and graduated with a master's degree in education in 1965.
Meredith taught business in Choteau, Cut Bank and Oregon. She also lived in the Seattle area, where she continued teaching and met A. Thomas Mott, whom she married in 1966.
Meredith lived in Des Moines, Wash., and retired to Montgomery, Ala. She later moved to her final home in Destin, Fla.
She was a member of Adah Chapter 17 OES, and she enjoyed needlework, traveling, deep sea fishing and was famous for her sugar cookies.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, Col. Howard Bear.
Meredith is survived by her sisters, Marilyn L. Servoss and Glenna L. Small; many nieces and nephews; and her many friends.
A graveside service will be held at 11 am. Friday, Jan. 13, at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery.
