Thinking of going to KTEC?
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 14 years, 4 months AGO
COEUR D'ALENE - Students and families interested in learning about the course offerings and application process to attend KTEC (Kootenai Technical Education Campus) next school year are encouraged to attend an upcoming application and informational night.
KTEC is a joint professional/technical high school with Coeur d'Alene, Post Falls and Lakeland School districts. Informational nights will be hosted at all three school districts. Each session takes place from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Applications will be available at the information nights, and some schools have already begun handing them out.
January 11th - Lakeland High School
January 24th - Post Falls High School
January 25th - Timberlake High School
February 8th - Coeur d'Alene High School
Space at KTEC is limited. For example, the Coeur d'Alene School District has more than 3,000 high school students and the district will only have 140 student slots at KTEC next year.
Mark Cotner, Director of KTEC, will present a school overview; explain course offerings, college credit and industry certification opportunities and walk families through the application process. Families will have the opportunity to fill out and turn in their student's KTEC application during the event.
Though geared to incoming juniors and seniors, Cotner encourages all families interested in learning about a professional/technical high school path to attend.
"It's never too early to ignite the interest in our students," stated Cotner. "Planning is key and begins at the middle school level."
