Eat more, weigh less

The same things that are making people sick are also making them overweight. In fact, being overweight or having difficulty losing weight is actually a symptom of an underlying health problem. For most people suffering with weight issues there are two key causes: Toxicity and inflammation.
If you hit a wall and cannot lose weight, what do you do? Most people further restrict calories and this is a recipe for disaster and can lead to failure. You must get rid of the toxic load, the underlying cause. Toxicity is a result of our poor diet, stress and environmental pollutants that overload and poison our bodies and mind.
It all goes back to function. How is your body working? Are you getting the right messages; from the brain to the body, to your digestive tract, and to your thyroid (is your metabolism working properly)? In our office we look at the whole person, and by checking the spine and nervous system our focus is to reduce any interference between the brain and every cell in the body. We need to make sure the body is working at its optimal level. If the body is not working, it doesn't matter how much we exercise or the dietary changes we make because the body is not functioning at 100 percent and we will not get the best results.
What are you putting into your body? Some foods you are eating could be making your body weak. Toxic foods include white sugar, high-fructose corn syrup, trans-fats, genetically modified foods, caffeine and food additives. These toxins place an extra burden on our liver, kidneys and gallbladder and the body can become overwhelmed and unable to detoxify all of the harmful substances.
Over time, the sugar we eat, hidden food allergies and chronic stress all trigger unseen inflammation deep within our cells. This can lead to chronic diseases of aging such as heart disease, cancer and diabetes. It is not simply due to aging but a result of the lifestyle we choose to live. We can have a different outcome if we choose to make better choices. The choice is yours. As you address these hidden problems, you will see a difference in your ability to lose weight and be healthier. To learn more, join us on Jan. 26 at 5:30 p.m. for our Eat More, Weigh Less workshop. Focus on ADD/ADHD
You have been seeing the terms ADD and ADHD very often in our recent articles. This is due to the fact that our Focus program is now in full swing and we have begun helping children and adults in managing their sensory integration issues such as ADD/ADHD or patterns of being impulsive, hyperactive, inattentive or exhibit an unexplained lack of productivity.
Chiropractic goes beyond pain
Our bodies are amazing. Think about that statement. As you do, also think about the fact that you probably took a breath, blinked your eyes, moved a limb, moved your head, focused your eyes, digested food, healed a cut, wiggled a toe, salivated and a million other internal operations. Although you were not readily thinking about all of these processes, they were going on without the need for your input. Your brain, while also supplying you with conscious thought, is simultaneously orchestrating a laundry list of functions to keep you alive and well.
How's your resolution going?
As March moves in, the steadfast determination of many people to continue carrying out their New Year's resolutions is no doubt starting to fade. If you are still holding strong to the things you have changed in your life, bravo! If not, well, there's always next year, right?
