Cd'A police add another technology tool
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 13 years AGO
They've been using Facebook and Twitter to engage citizens and help solve crimes.
Now, the Coeur d'Alene Police Department is further expanding its use of technology to interact with the public.
The agency announced Wednesday that it is launching the use of Nixle, a community information service designed to use the web, email and cell phones to deliver neighborhood-level dispatches - public safety threats and community events - to residents.
The police department reports Nixle was built to provide secure and reliable communications, and it is "completely simple, trusted and available at no cost."
Nixle has secured a partnership with the International Justice and Public Safety Network, allowing local police departments nationwide to send immediate alerts and advisories.
Coeur d'Alene residents can register now at www.nixle.com to receive alerts.
