David Lowell Mason, 68

David Lowell Mason, 68, died Jan. 9, 2012, at Hospice House in Coeur d'Alene. He was born Nov. 19, 1943, in Coeur d'Alene to Lowell W. Mason and Wilda (Houchin) Mason.

David grew up in Coeur d'Alene and attended local schools until joining the Marine Corp. in 1961. He was stationed at Camp Pendleton in California. After his discharge from the military, he attended a trade school at North Idaho College.

David married Linda Lovell on Nov. 5, 1974, in Coeur d'Alene. David held various jobs through the years, including working as a carpet layer for several different businesses, as well as working for Kootenai County and the Coeur d'Alene School District. He retired in 2009. David enjoyed watching sports on TV. His favorite teams were the Seattle Seahawks and the Gonzaga Bulldogs. He also liked to bowl. In his spare time he loved working crossword puzzles. He also enjoyed having coffee and visiting with friends at a local cafe whenever possible. He was a former member of the Eagles Aerie No. 486.

Survivors include his wife, Linda, at home; daughter Rondi Tyree of Coeur d'Alene; sons, Jeff Mason and wife Shawna of Boise, Dan Mason of Arizona and Rusty Mason of Boise; mother Wilda Mason of Coeur d'Alene; sisters, Shirley Binfield and husband Paul of Hayden, Donna Spencer and husband Rick of Coeur d'Alene, and Susan Peoples and husband Doug of Post Falls; and brother Kenneth Mason and wife Kim of Cornelius, Ore. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lowell Mason; grandparents, Henry W. and Mattie Mason, and Evangeline Allen. He was also preceded in death by his infant son, Alan Mason, who was Jeff's twin.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, at Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d'Alene Chapel.
