Labrador nominates students to service academies

Several area residents are on the list of students nominated by Idaho Rep. Raul Labrador's office to enter the United States Service Academies.

The following nominations were announced Monday:

U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, New York - Kylie Johnson, Coeur d'Alene, Nicholas Gosselin, Post Falls;

U.S. Military Academy, West Point - Zachary LaBenne, Hayden; Parker Mathews, Rathdrum; Joel Parker Heisey, Coeur d'Alene; Travis Griffard, Coeur d'Alene;

U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis - John Gil Givens.

The Office of Congressman Raul Labrador nominated these students based on an evaluation that includes an assessment of the candidate's scholarship, leadership, character/motivation and competitiveness.
