Three different players scored in double figures as the Ronan Chiefs withstood a frenzied second-half rally to defeat the Mission Bulldogs 48-43 on Thursday night in St. Ignatius.

Brady Oakland led the Chiefs with 14 points, while Robbie "Le Bourreau" Gauthier added 11 and Marcus Hungerford 10 in the victory, which pushed Ronan's record to 4-4 on the season.

Stuart Grant led the Bulldogs (2-7) with 10 points, while Austin Durglo scored nine and Jarred Smith-Brown and Dylan Evans seven.

The teams were knotted at 11 after the first quarter, but Ronan ripped off a 12-3 second quarter to take a nine-point lead into halftime. The Chiefs continued piling on, beginning the second half with a 10-2 run to build a 33-16 lead before Mission, fueled by their bench, started the rally.

With Paden Alexander, Patrick Eichert and Will Powell playing good minutes in the third and Harry Suta also seeing some time, the Bulldogs closed the third with an 11-3 spurt to cut Ronan's lead to 36-27.

Mission kept their foot on the gas in the fourth, scoring seven of the stanza's first nine points to make the score 38-34. After trading baskets, the Bulldogs got to within three on a three-point play by Evans, but Oakland responded for the Chiefs with a bucket to bump the lead back to five. Mission would get chances late, but were hampered with free-throw misses and couldn't quite complete the comeback.

Edmond Dupuis scored six points for Ronan, while both Robert Faoa and Carston Baertsch contributed three and Marley Tanner one in the victory.

Paden Alexander came off the bench to notch five points, while Powell and Eichert each added two and Nikko Alexander one for the Bulldogs in defeat.
