EPHRATA - Grant County Solid Waste reminds resident that a new law has gone into effect regarding the transport of refuse.

"Customers of county-operated disposal sites will be charged a fee if their load is not covered with a tarp, is not inside an enclosed vehicle or otherwise secured," Janice Goeden of GCSW said.

Goeden said garbage bags will be considered an unsecured load if they are not covered with a tarp or carried inside a closed vehicle.

In addition to regular disposal charges, violators of the new law will be charged $5 for passenger vehicles with 1-3 yard capacity and $15 for trucks and other vehicles with more than 3-yard capacity.
