The plight of Barbara Taylor and her pet service dog, Liebchen, touched the hearts of animal-loving Press readers.
The black lab mix was attacked and injured by a pair of pit bulls, and Taylor, who is disabled and lives on a limited income, was struggling to find a way to pay the vet bills.
Calls came streaming into the newsroom this morning from people offering financial help so the dog could get the care it needs.
Before noon, Liebchen was on its way to the vet thanks to one of the Good Samaritans.
