KHS: Thrift store raises questions

As an ex-volunteer at the Kootenai Humane Society thrift store in Post Falls, I was upset to see an ad on their website and their Facebook page for a new manager.

While volunteering there on Sept. 15, we were told by Rondi Renaldo that even though the store was doing well financially, even exceeding expectations, that because the rent was being raised, the store would have to close.

The manager at that time was asked to leave immediately. He gathered up his personal belongings, gave us volunteers a quick hug and left the store. We were all in shock! Most of us have not returned to work at the store or for the shelter. We were too upset at this turn of events.

Now we find out the rent issue has been resolved and the store is staying open! Why wasn't the previous manager offered his job back?

We've been asking ourselves that and many other questions, such as: Has the shelter lost its lease on the property near the airport? Where can they move? Where will they get the money to move?

We are all greatly concerned about the fate of the shelter and all the animals it houses and protects.
