Chiefs fall to Thunderbirds

SPOKANE - The Seattle Thunderbirds came back from a 2-1 deficit at the start of the final period to beat the Spokane Chiefs 3-2 on Monday in Western Hockey League play before 4,243 at the Spokane Arena.

Mike Aviani and Blake Gal scored for the Chiefs, who despite outshooting the T-Birds 15-6 in the final period, couldn't hold on.

Spokane (22-14-3-3, 50 points), which holds a 15 point-lead over Seattle for fourth place in the US Division, is at Tri-City on Friday.
